Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
This notice explains how The Love.Give.Forgive. Project handles personal information when you visit our website, subscribe to updates or contact us. It is information about our practices, not a request for consent through use of the website.
1. Who operates this website
The Love.Give.Forgive Project is the data controller responsible for personal data processed through this website. For privacy enquiries or to exercise your rights, contact hello@lovegiveforgive.org.
2. Information we process
- Newsletter: your email address, subscription and confirmation status, and information needed to record your preferences and deliver emails. The signup form sends your email address through our website server to Brevo. We do not collect a first or last name through the active signup form.
- Enquiries: your email address, name if supplied, and the message you choose to send. Our Contact page provides an email link. Poem pages also offer a private reflection form. The reflection, poem name, optional name and email address, and your contact-about-featuring choice are sent through our website server and Brevo to our project inbox. Submitting a reflection does not subscribe you to the newsletter. Reflections are not published automatically; we ask for separate explicit permission before featuring any contribution.
- Website and video delivery: providers process technical information, such as IP addresses, browser/device details and requests, to deliver, secure and monitor the service.
- Optional Google Analytics: If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 measures visits, campaign referrals, recitation starts/completions, social-link clicks and successful newsletter signup requests. Our custom events do not include email addresses or messages. Advertising storage, Google Signals and advertising personalisation are disabled. You can change your choice through Cookie settings in the footer. A signup request is not a confirmed subscription.
- Website analytics: Vercel Web Analytics measures page visits, recitation starts and completions, community-link clicks and signup requests. These custom events contain the page and interaction, not your email address or message. A signup request is distinct from a confirmed subscription. Vercel describes its analytics as cookieless and uses a daily visitor hash.
3. Purposes and lawful bases
- Consent: sending newsletter updates after you confirm your subscription. You can withdraw consent at any time using an unsubscribe link or by emailing us.
- Legitimate interests: responding to enquiries, delivering and securing the website and videos, preventing abuse, and understanding how readers use the project. These interests are maintaining a reliable service and improving the reader experience.
- Legal obligations: retaining information where a specific legal requirement applies.
4. Newsletter choices
Brevo sends a confirmation email. You join the mailing list after clicking its confirmation link. You can unsubscribe through the link in our emails or contact hello@lovegiveforgive.org. Newsletter emails may contain provider-managed delivery and engagement information. Your email address is not stored in the site's browser storage.
5. Providers and international processing
- Brevo: newsletter confirmation, subscriber management and email delivery.
- Google Analytics: optional website and campaign measurement.
- Vercel: website hosting, the signup endpoint and website analytics.
- Mux: video hosting, streaming and playback quality measurements.
- Our email provider: Google Workspace processes enquiries sent to our project email address.
These providers may process information outside the UK. Brevo operates from France; Vercel, Mux and Google are US-based providers with international infrastructure and subprocessors. Processing locations are not necessarily limited to the country where a provider is based.
Provider data-processing agreements describe the safeguards for international transfers, including standard contractual clauses and UK addenda where applicable. You can review Brevo's data-processing agreement information, Vercel's data-processing addendum, Mux's data-processing addendum and Google Workspace's data-processing addendum. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.
6. Retention
- Active subscriptions: while you remain subscribed and the newsletter operates.
- Unsubscribed addresses and consent records: only information needed to respect your opt-out and establish subscription choices is retained for those purposes; it must not be used to continue marketing.
- Enquiries: for as long as needed to respond and complete any resulting correspondence or collaboration. Information required for a legal obligation or dispute may be kept for that purpose.
- Provider technical and analytics records: according to the applicable service's retention settings and terms. Mux states that pseudonymised video-view data is kept for up to 100 days. Vercel's daily visitor hash resets each day; this does not mean all analytics reports are deleted daily.
- Browser storage: the durations and removal behaviour are explained in our Cookie Policy.
- Accessibility
We use the purpose of the record, whether an enquiry remains open, subscription choices and applicable legal requirements to decide when information is no longer needed. You can contact us to request deletion.
7. Your rights
Depending on the processing and applicable law, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data. You can withdraw consent without affecting processing before withdrawal.
Right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests and to use of your information for direct marketing. Contact hello@lovegiveforgive.org.
You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/ or telephone 0303 123 1113. You can also contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
See our Cookie Policy for the current browser-storage and provider inventory. Continuing to browse is not treated as consent to optional cookies.
9. Security and external platforms
We take reasonable steps to protect information and use service providers to deliver the website securely. No internet service can guarantee complete security. Following a social or sharing link takes you to another provider, whose own privacy terms apply. We do not receive your social-platform login credentials.
10. Updates and contact
We update this notice when our practices change and show the revised date above. For any privacy enquiry, Contact Us or email hello@lovegiveforgive.org.
